The Role
MSF Sugar is seeking a skilled and motivated Water Tender / Boiler Operator to join our team on a permanent full-time basis at the South Johnstone Mill, located just 15 minutes from Innisfail.
This is a dual classification position. During the cane crushing season you will work in the Production team as a Water Tender/ Boiler Operator or Assistant Water Tender and during the maintenance season as part of our Engineering Maintenance team as a Tradesperson/ Trades Assistant, depending on the skills and qualifications of the successful applicant.
Key Responsibilities
* Operate Boiler and steam equipment to achieve optimum delivery of steam to service factory output whilst complying with WH&S and Environmental policies and procedures.
* Oversee assistant water tender in relation to their duties and provide knowledge, training, and directions during operations.
* Ensure all required sampling & equipment checks are conducted.
* Undertake training and skills development as needed for the position.
* Appropriately communicate with the shift team, and at shift changeovers
* Maintain operational log sheets.
What We’re Looking For
* A current driver's licence is a mandatory requirement
* Boiler (BA) and Turbine (TO) tickets are essential for this role, or willingness to obtain them.
* Good communication and teamwork skills
* Intermediate computer skills to operate computer-based control systems
* Strong safety awareness and commitment to safe work practices
* Trade background (advantageous but not essential)
* Any additional tickets such as Forklift, Crane, Rigging, Dogger, Scaffolding (advantageous but not essential)
* Previous experience with operating plant or part of process (advantageous but not essential)
