Senior Mechanical Engineer – Future Technical Director
Dust Management Services Pty Ltd (DMS) is a specialist engineering and project delivery company providing innovative dust collection and air handling solutions to the mining and industrial sectors across Australia. Due to continued growth and strategic planning for the future, we are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our leadership team with a clear succession pathway to the role of Technical Director within 2–3 years.

The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the current Technical Director, you will work across the full project lifecycle – from concept design and tender support through to detailed engineering, commissioning support and client interface. Over time, you will progressively assume responsibility for technical governance, engineering standards, design review processes and mentoring of junior engineers, positioning yourself to transition into the Technical Director role.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the current Technical Director, you will play a key role across design, costing, tendering and project delivery.
* Lead the mechanical design and selection of equipment comprising dust collection systems, ducting, pneumatic and screw conveyors and bulk materials handling equipment
* Oversee design compliance with Australian Standards and client specifications
* Prepare capital cost estimates and support tender submissions
* Develop material take‐offs and review supplier and subcontractor pricing
* Assess technical risk and ensure solutions are commercially practical
* Provide technical input into proposals and client presentations
* Collaborate regularly with our global technology providers with whom we hold long term relationships and licences to further DMS understanding and new product innovation
* Mentor junior engineers and progressively assume responsibility for technical governance and engineering standards
* Over time, you will transition into full responsibility for engineering leadership, technical risk management and strategic technical direction of the business
About You
You will hold a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and have a minimum of 10 years' post‐graduate experience, ideally within mining, materials handling, process plant or heavy industrial environments. You will demonstrate:
* Strong experience in bulk solids handling, dust collection systems, dust suppression systems, bulk‐handling, ductwork and structural interfaces
* An understanding of electrical, pneumatic and PLC Control and interfaces
* A sound understanding of Australian Standards and engineering compliance requirements
* Proven ability to manage and review engineering deliverables
* Commercial awareness and experience supporting tenders or client proposals
* Strong leadership capability with the ability to mentor and develop engineers
* Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and senior stakeholders
* Chartered status (CPEng) or progression toward it will be highly regarded
