* Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering are crucial for success in this field.
* A wealth of experience in automation and PLC systems is highly valued.
* Hands-on proficiency with Allen Bradley's PLC is essential.
* Familiarity with modern Fibre-Ethernet networks like Ethernet/IP is necessary.
* Capital Project execution experience is desirable.
As an Automation Specialist, you will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
* Automating Inventory Management processes, including decommissioned PLC hardware management.
* Overseeing the WAO Refining automation technology roadmap.
* Leading on-site automation support personnel.
* Negotiating supplier contracts related to PLC Modernisation, Technical Support, and Parts Management.
* Serving as a subject matter expert for technical queries.
* Ensuring PLC compliance with cybersecurity and risk management standards.
Modernisation Project Activities
* Conducting wet commissioning – testing where the PLC system is installed and brought back online into production.
* Maintenance and Operational Readiness – developing asset numbers, BOMs, and other relevant documentation.
* Project Governance – ensuring the modernisation project stays on schedule.
* Quality Assurance of the PLC Engineering Solution Provider.
* Training Development – collaborating with the EI Training department to create training packages for new and legacy PLC systems.
* Developing scope of work for PLC modernisation and shutdown planning.
* Designing PLC system hardware and network architecture modernisation.
* Assisting in the installation and wet commissioning of all PLC systems in scope.
* Configuring network hardware IP addresses and settings.
