Communications Officer
Contract to 16/02/2029 1 x 12 month extension option | Buderim in the Sunshine Coast + WFH
We're working with a leading Queensland government client to recruit an experienced Communications Officer. In this role you will provide critical communication services for infrastructure projects across the North Coast Region. You will manage community engagement, stakeholder relationships, and media relations for projects spanning the design, construction, and maintenance phases.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide communication advice and support to regional staff on communication strategies for key stakeholder and community engagement on road infrastructure projects in the design, construction and maintenance phases using appropriate communication tools to develop, implement and monitor activities.
* Research and gather information and write articles for various project materials, including newsletters, construction notifications, webpage content, online engagement information, reporting and so on.
* Coordinate and write media statements, responses to media enquiries, speech notes and other communications materials for the Minister's office and senior management.
* Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate cooperation, coordination and enhanced communication channels.
* Ensure appropriate governance frameworks are maintained and adhered to in order to monitor compliance with policy, legislation, regulations, standards and procedures.
* Perform other ad hoc communication support as required.
What we're looking for?
* Must hold a current Class 'C' Drivers Licence.
* A degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or Marketing is highly desirable.
* Ideally, you have IAP2 in Engagement and an understanding of the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) framework.
* Industry Experience: Experience in major infrastructure, particularly in the transport or civil engineering sectors, is highly regarded
