Part-Time – 12 hours per week

This role is to support young men who are moving to a house in Hataitai. We provide them with 24/7 support so you would be required to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends and sleepovers. The flatmates are active social people who enjoy dancing, singing, performing and going to sporting events like rugby and football. Having valued social roles within the community is hugely important to them especially working life. They are keen to create new things and love working on their woodwork projects which they sell and display at markets. They all have strong family supports so you'll need to gain not only their trust and confidence, but that of their families. We would love to hear from applicants who are great communicators, transparent, supportive and understanding; people who able to work in a respectful partnership with them.

The ideal staff member will be vibrant, fun, self-motivated and innovative, a good listener who is able to help them understand and process their feelings, and someone who is committed to helping people take the lead in their own lives. Part of your role will be to support them to maintain and extend their social networks and skills and keep exploring what the world has to offer. The world can be a challenging place, so you'll be there to be alongside them, knowing when to step in and when to step back.

You'll also assist them with the other things they want in life, like finding more opportunities for work.  They have part time work in retail and grounds keeping at a local school. They already have independence skills and will need your help to use those and further develop the skills that they need to manage their budgets, support to cook healthy meals and the day to day normal flatting chores. All three men are social butterflies and live busy lives, they love to have a chat and a joke with their staff so the ideal candidate would need to be very social able and show initiative in their work.
