Mechanical Engineer Role
We are seeking a motivated mechanical engineer to join our talented team of engineering professionals on-site in Exmouth.
Job Description:
This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical defence infrastructure, including the Space Surveillance Telescope, Very Low Frequency (VLF) Communications Transmitter and C-Band Radar.
* Serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertise.
* Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions.
* Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies.
Key Responsibilities:
* Liaise with management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company procedures.
* Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning.
* Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the VLF mission system.
* Participate in technical reviews and audits.
* Mentor engineering and technical staff.
Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with power generation or mechanical systems industry experience.
* Minimum of six years' experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or regional/remote power generation related industries.
* Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines.
* Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics.
* Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications.
Desirable Experience:
* Experience making improvements to processes, systems, or products to enhance performance.
* Willingness to become and maintain a chartered professional engineering status via Engineers Australia.
