Join to apply for the Student Support Officer role at the Department of Education, Western Australia.

We are seeking to establish a pool of Student Support Officers for permanent and fixed‑term, full‑time and part‑time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Churchlands Senior High School (SHS) has built an outstanding reputation since its foundation in 1962. Our tradition of student excellence in academic, sporting and cultural fields is without peer in the public system and places the school competitively against Western Australia’s leading private schools. Churchlands SHS is Western Australia’s leading selective music school providing specialist tuition to the state’s Gifted and Talented young musicians. The facilities supporting this program are unrivalled in Western Australia and comparable to any in Australia.

Find out more about our school by visiting or Schools Online.

Suitable applicants will assist in developing and introducing systems and intervention strategies which provide a responsive and effective support service for students, family members and staff. You will also provide support and advice to teachers on strategies for supporting students and facilitate group work processes. Using your communication skills, you will develop supportive links between the student, the family, the school and other appropriate agencies in the community and establish a network of partnerships with other government and non‑government agencies.

Suitable applicants will ideally have relevant experience in assisting with crisis management and response duties, as well as assisting in developing intervention strategies and support programs.

Equity and Diversity

We are committed to an inclusive and culturally responsive workforce reflecting the diversity in our schools and the Western Australian community. We welcome and encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, young people, people of diverse sexualities and genders, people with disability, and people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
