The Opportunity:
NES Fircroft is partnering with a tier 1 mining client seeking a senior environmental advisor to join their site major projects team on a rolling 12-month contract, with a multi-year pipeline of projects funded for the next 3-5 years. The focus will be on green energy and renewable projects, including solar, onshore wind, and power transmission construction.
The Role:
This is a site-based role on a 2/1 FIFO roster from Perth, with flexibility for interstate travel for those able to arrange their own transportation to and from Perth each swing. The role is critical to ensuring project adherence to all environmental site requirements and includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
1. Coordination of all site environmental monitoring programs related to construction works.
2. Ensuring project adherence to site environmental management plans, with a focus on contractor management.
3. Coaching the workforce on best environmental practices, including influencing and educating stakeholders up to a Project Management level regarding environmental obligations.
4. Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements under parts IV and V.
5. Managing incident investigations on-site for breaches of environmental compliance.
The Requirements:
- Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Management or a related field.
- Strong experience in site roles within mining or similar heavy industries. Exposure to large-scale construction projects is advantageous, especially experience related to power system projects or linear infrastructure.
- Proven ability to build relationships with senior stakeholders both internally and externally from a project and construction management perspective.
- Experience managing environmental compliance and reporting requirements.
