The Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission (ACIC) is Australia's national criminal intelligence agency. We advise senior decision makers on serious and organised crime impacting Australia. We are a full member of the National Intelligence Community, an Attorney General's Portfolio agency, and a member of the Five Eyes Law Enforcement Group.
The ACIC is at the forefront of tackling serious and organised crime targeting Australia, both within our borders and offshore. Our staff operate against a pervasive, transnational and globalised criminal threat, and work hard to realise an Australia hostile to criminal exploitation. As a small agency that makes a real impact on reliable and organised crime, we need talented and dedicated people who are intelligent, highly capable and seeking to make a difference to the lives of all Australians.
The ACIC also plays a critical role in facilitating the National Police Checking Service (NPCS), by providing an ICT system that allows Accredited Bodies and Police to provide Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks to the Australian community.
**About the branch**
The ACIC partners with Australian police agencies to provide the National Police Checking Service (NPCS or the Service). The NPCS helps to protect the safety of the community by minimising the risk of appointing someone unsuitable to a position of trust. The service is delivered to Australian police agencies and organisations who are accredited with the ACIC to submit Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Checks (police checks).
The NPCS accredits organisations known as accredited bodies to perform functions on behalf of the ACIC for individuals accessing the Service.
The NPCS Branch undertakes a range of quality assurance activities to assist with accuracy and to ensure the smooth operation and continuity of the service. We also perform matching work for police checks, contract, onboard and train newly accredited organisations and provide an ongoing customer and contract management service for our accredited organisations.
**About the role**
The National Police Checking Service (NPCS or the Service) is seeking motivated individuals to form part of a new team, established to manage secondary clearance activities.
The Support Officer, NPCS will assist in the processing of criminal history checks by resolving the identity of the persons of interest who have matched against national police records in National Policing Information (NPI) Systems.
