Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Geotechnical Engineer or Associate Geotechnical Engineer to join our Queensland Geotechnical team.
In This Role
* Lead and oversee geotechnical aspects of projects, ensuring best practices throughout the lifecycle.
* Scope, plan, budget, schedule, allocate resources, and ensure quality control for geotechnical projects or components.
* Plan and supervise site investigations, including borehole drilling, in‐situ testing (SPT, CPT, pressuremeter, etc.), sampling, and monitoring.
* Perform geotechnical analyses, such as slope stability, bearing capacity, settlement, liquefaction assessment, seismic response, and design foundations, earth retaining structures, ground improvement solutions, and pavements.
* Prepare high‐quality technical reports, feasibility studies, design documents, and specifications.
* Identify geotechnical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
* Nurture client relationships, attend meetings, and provide geotechnical advice and presentations.
* Mentor and train junior graduate or early‐career geotechnical engineers and technicians.
* Ensure all geotechnical activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
* Stay abreast of emerging technologies, software, and methods in geotechnical engineering.
The team
WSP Australia's Geotechnical & Tunnels division unites more than 400 geotechnical, geological, and tunnelling consultants nationwide. Our Queensland Geotechnical team includes over 70 professionals, supported by a national geophysics team based in Brisbane.
About You
* Great attitude towards teamwork, collaboration, and communication.
* Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a closely related field (Master's preferred).
* Chartered or Professional Engineer status (or eligibility) is highly desirable.
* Approximately 7‐10 years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience, ideally in consulting, infrastructure, or construction projects.
* Expertise in ground investigation, geotechnical analysis, and design of foundations, earthworks, and retaining structures.
* Experience with geotechnical software (e.g., PLAXIS, GeoStudio, Slope/W, Settle3D, LPILE, gINT, or equivalent).
* Strong report writing, communication, and presentation skills.
* Proven project, budget, and team management experience.
* Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
