About the Position
Deputy Director, Operations and Strategy – a contingent, full‐time appointment at Professional Employee Level10.
Lead the strategic direction, governance, and operational management of the Institute, driving business services, resource alignment, and collaboration to support First Nations birthing and maternal health outcomes.
Work in partnership with the Director and join the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) to implement strategic and impactful approaches both internally and externally with the University.
Oversee the Operations Manager and manage operations in human resources, marketing and communication, and research administration, while undertaking specific strategic projects that support the overall Institute.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide First Nations representation and leadership to the overall strategic direction and operations of the Institute.
* Lead strategic planning and governance, including budgeting and financial management, aligning resources to current and future funding requirements.
* Implement strategic and impactful approaches in collaboration with ELT members and the University.
* Oversee daily operations of the Operations Manager across HR, marketing/communications, and research administration.
* Undertake and deliver strategic projects that support the Institute's objectives.
* Use initiative to manage tasks and projects, assess market opportunities, and develop networks and strategic alliances.
* Influence decision‐making in the University's administration, resource management, and business planning activities.
* Engage, negotiate, and consult with Aboriginal communities, their leaders and key stakeholders, respecting traditional First Nations governance frameworks.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate level qualification (or working toward) in business management or another relevant discipline, or extensive experience and management knowledge with a combination of relevant training.
* Outstanding leadership and management skills with a demonstrated ability to build effective, high‐performing teams.
* Experience in financial planning and management, with ability to provide specialist business development and analysis support to Institute staff.
* Highly developed skills in assessing market opportunities and building networks and strategic alliances.
* Demonstrated record of delivering innovative solutions to complex strategic and operational issues.
* Capacity to influence decision‐making in the University's administration, resource management, and business planning.
* Effective cross‐cultural, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
* Experience engaging and consulting with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders, respecting First Nations governance frameworks.
* Knowledge of the principles of self‐determination as they relate to the Aboriginal Community‐Controlled and First Nations‐Led health service sector.

Remuneration
Appointment at Professional Employee Level10.
Base salary: $133,156 – $147,782 per annum.
Total remuneration package (including 17% superannuation): $155,792 – $172,904 per annum.
