Deputy Executive Director of Medical Services – Launceston & Northeast, Australia
Responsibilities
* Assist the Executive Director Medical Services (EDMS) in the coordination, administration and evaluation of agency-wide aspects of Medical Services.
* Ensure that recruitment, appointment, credentialing and employment of junior medical staff are consistent with legislative and Award provisions.
* Oversee recruitment, workforce planning, selection and ongoing training requirements (Vocational and pre‑vocational) for junior medical staff.
* Oversee strategic development, partnership and communications with General Practice and wider community health care providers.
* Act in the position of EDMS as required, including delegated responsibilities.
Qualifications / Selection Criteria
* Clinical Leadership experience at a senior level in a tertiary, regional health service or equivalent.
* Holds or is working towards Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (RACMA) or Associate Fellowship (AFRACMA) or equivalent postgraduate health management qualification.
* Demonstrated experience and interest in the organisation and management of medical staff within a rapidly changing hospital environment with a client‑centred, clinically driven management philosophy.
* Sound knowledge and experience in contemporary human resource management issues.
* Demonstrated understanding of junior medical staff issues as they impact in a teaching hospital environment.
* High level of interpersonal skills and ability to work with and lead other staff, including liaising with other health professionals.
* Demonstrated achievement of a high level of customer/patient focus by setting and monitoring standards and promoting an ethos of excellent patient/customer service.
* Sound knowledge of the national and state health policy framework impacting on health service delivery in Tasmania.
* Demonstrated understanding of legislation relevant to the position.
Compensation and Benefits
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 – Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 salary range: $216,300 – $310,389 per annum, pro‑rate; 12% superannuation; access to salary packaging.
* Salary packaging options include living expenses up to $9,010 and meals and entertainment up to $2,650 per year.
* Provision of a fully maintained private vehicle or motor vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum, pro‑rate.
* Participation in Private Practice Scheme 35% or allowance in lieu of scheme 35%.
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance: $16,974 per annum, pro‑rate.
* Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for overseas applicants and up to $10,000 for interstate applicants.
