About the role

The Accountant plays a critical role in ensuring the sound financial management of the School's operations. The Accountant is responsible for providing professional accounting support to assist the Business Manager in delivering excellence in financial management to the School.

The role involves the preparation and analysis of monthly and annual management and statutory financial reporting. In addition, the Accountant will provide timely and accurate financial reports, maintain the integrity of accounting systems and processes, ensure compliance with statutory obligations, and support the strategic planning and decision making. Working closely with the Business Manager and key stakeholders, the Accountant will ensure that financial practices reflect the School's values and mission, while promoting transparency, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.

Furthermore, the Accountant is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of Payroll and the maintenance of accurate payroll records, working closely with the Human Resources Department in this area. The Accountant will manage the day-to-day operation of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, School Uniform Shop, Reception, and Tuckshop staff.


Candidate profile

* Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office suite
* Excellent verbal and written communication
* Excellent time management skills to meet deadlines
* Capacity to manage multiple tasks and work autonomously
* Ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, analyse and seek out new solutions
* Discretion and confidentiality
* At least 5 years experience in financial and staff management
* Effectively manage a team and build positive working relationships
* Team player and supportive of all staff members

Qualifications

* Bachelor-level degree with a major in accounting or equivalent
* Working with Children Blue Card

Highly desirable

* Membership of a professional accounting body (CPA or CA)
* Working knowledge and understanding of TASS
