Job Title:
A Coastal Data Analyst
We are seeking a skilled data analyst to join our organisation in a role that directly supports a Defence client.
About the Role
* Consolidate Australia's backlog of coastal data into a centralised database.
* Generate foundation coastal data for Australia's Marine Jurisdiction and international charting responsibilities.
Data Management & Processing:
* Execute ETL processes to consolidate coastal data holdings.
* Review and ensure data integrity, accuracy, and consistency across sources.
* Edit point clouds and gridded data to maintain quality standards.
* Apply standardised attribution and metadata to datasets.
Technical Analysis:
* Perform horizontal and vertical datum transformations.
* Georeference scanned manuscript datasets for quality control.
* Generate gridded outputs following established guidelines.
* Conduct geospatial analysis to identify data collection opportunities.
* Develop and apply new analytic methodologies for user requirements.
* Create data models optimised for visualisation and analysis.
* Document procedures and communicate results to diverse stakeholders.
* Support statistical and geo-statistical analysis activities.
Requirements:
* An active security clearance is required.
* A minimum of 3 years of GIS experience with maritime geospatial background preferred.
* Strong experience in spatial ETL functions and data integration.
* Understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and spatial data types.
Key Skills:
* Knowledge of geospatial data best practices (integration, transformation, optimisation).
* Experience building spatial data models for analysis and visualisation.
* Statistical analysis capabilities including geo-statistical methods.
* Familiarity with CARIS software beneficial but not essential.
