The Parkville Youth Mental Health and Wellbeing Service (PYMHWS) provides dedicated mental health care to young people aged 12-25 in Melbourne's north and west, along with their families, carers, supporters and kin.
Operating at sites across Melbourne's north and west PYMHWS is Victoria's first standalone public mental health service built exclusively around young people's needs.

The Opportunity
The Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers.
PYMHWS and Youth Justice staff work collaboratively to support young people voluntarily admitted to the new Mental Health Unit (River Unit) at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Custodial Precinct.

About The Role
The RPN will facilitate comprehensive consultation, liaison and negotiation with young people, families/carers, and various other members of a multidisciplinary team. The role incorporates 1:1 therapeutic time with young people, unsupervised clinical practice, consumer-advocacy, collaborative bed and unit management, research, supervision and mentorship/preceptorship and facilitation of groups.
What You'll Do
* Deliver evidence-based nursing care to young people in custody across a 24/7 rotating roster
* Provide specialist mental health nursing interventions, and effectively manage critical incidents and emergency situations
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based interventions
* Deliver mental health nursing care from a Strengths-Based, Recovery-Focused framework
* Engage in 1:1 therapeutic work, clinical practice, advocacy, group facilitation, and mentorship/preceptorship
About You
Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
Studying towards a post-graduate qualification in Mental Health if this has not already been achieved.
Minimum of 12-24 months experience in an acute or subacute inpatient setting, preferably a graduate/transition and post graduate year.
Ability to deliver personalised psycho-social care beyond the traditional medical model to facilitate recovery of young people.
Demonstrated commitment to the recovery approach in mental health treatment and support, with a focus on working collaboratively with consumers and families/carers to promote self-determination and enable progress towards reaching consumers personal recovery goals.
