Job Description:
The Depot Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of depot activities, guaranteeing a safe and efficient working environment.
* This encompasses overseeing all aspects of depot operations, including conducting toolbox talks, managing personal protective equipment, maintaining depot cleanliness, and adhering to occupational health and safety regulations.
* Responsibilities also include tracking commercial jobs, managing inventory, approving timesheets, and facilitating seamless workforce operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Operational Management
* Conduct weekly toolbox talks to disseminate essential information on safety updates and operational priorities.
* Ensure that the depot maintains high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
* Oversee OHS checklists to ensure strict adherence to safety regulations.
* Manage and monitor start-of-day and end-of-day checklists to guarantee operational readiness.
* Ensure all staff consistently wear appropriate PPE.
2. Inventory & Equipment Management
* Perform regular stocktakes of equipment, chemicals, and consumables to verify availability and proper use.
* Manage PPE distribution and compliance, ensuring all staff are adequately equipped.
* Oversee uniform management, ensuring staff have the necessary attire for operations.
3. Staff & Workforce Management
* Approve and monitor timesheets, ensuring rostering aligns with operational needs and requirements.
* Maintain records of workforce licenses and certifications to ensure compliance with industry standards.
* Support and oversee staff management, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company policies.
* Develop comprehensive orientation programs for new staff, ensuring they are thoroughly briefed on all company policies and procedures, up-to-date with safety protocols, and provided with the necessary PPE to perform their duties safely.
4. Commercial Operations & Data Entry
* Track and report on commercial job performance, ensuring accurate data entry.
* Manage cash handling and till reconciliation to maintain financial accuracy.
* Assist with vehicle movements and collection processes to optimize transport and logistics operations.
* Identify and implement staff efficiency improvements to enhance productivity.
* Maintain regular and proactive communication with senior management to address current and anticipated operational issues, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and efficiency.
