About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated Marine Survey Compliance Officer to ensure the operational compliance and safety of our commercial vessel fleet. This position plays a critical role in supporting marine operations through the proactive management of regulatory obligations, safety standards, and vessel readiness. Working closely with crew, technical teams, and regulatory bodies, you will be responsible for maintaining vessel certifications, overseeing inspections, and developing vessel-specific procedures that meet all maritime legal requirements.
Your work will involve collaborating across departments, liaising with external inspectors, and ensuring that our vessels meet the highest standards of safety and performance in line with AMSA's National Standard for Commercial Vessels (NSCV), Marine Orders, and Class Society rules.

Whether you've come from an operational marine background or compliance-focused role, you're confident navigating legislation and have a knack for turning regulations into practical systems that crews can follow. Your ability to balance strategic oversight, makes you a trusted point of contact for vessel compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensure vessels and operations comply with AMSA, NSCV, Marine Orders, and Class Society requirements
* Develop, implement, and review vessel operating procedures (VSOPs), safety systems, and risk assessments in consultation with vessel crews and subject matter experts.
* Maintain certification, survey schedules, and documentation registers for all vessels and equipment
* Conduct internal compliance audits and support external inspections
* Lead monitoring and maintenance of all marine safety equipment
* Manage regulatory documentation including but not limited to SMS meeting marine order 504.
* Prepare and deliver safety and compliance reports
* Liaise with internal departments, contractors, Class Societies, and AMSA as required
* Provide operational support during new vessel deliveries, modifications, and major maintenance periods to ensure compliance from design to operation.

Essential Skills & Qualifications
Experience & Knowledge
* Strong understanding of maritime legislation including NSCV, AMSA Marine Orders, and Class Society rules
* Proven experience developing and implementing vessel safety procedures
* Knowledge of marine safety equipment standards and maintenance practices
* Excellent communication and documentation skills
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word)
* Familiarity with compliance tracking systems (e.g., Skytrust, HELM)
* Previous experience on commercial vessels is desirable but not essential
Qualifications
* Valid C-Class Driver's Licence
* White Card
* National Police Clearance
* Recognised marine qualification (e.g., Coxswain, Master <24m, MED 2+) desirable but not required
