This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2025
Southern Cross District High School (DHS), located in the Eastern Wheatbelt, provides contemporary education for around 60 students from Kindergarten to Year 10. Our small student population enables us to offer a personalised learning environment, whilst also providing a breadth of curriculum, teacher expertise and resourcing. The Role
The successful applicant will ideally possess the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant English and Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) curriculum. In this role, you will promote and foster student engagement and achievement through building productive working relationships with students.
We are seeking a Teacher who is ideally creative and hands-on in delivering English and HASS. You should ideally be someone who works well in a collaborative team environment, values strong relationships with students, parents, and the community.
The successful applicant should possess the ability to work in multi-age group classes requiring differentiation and have a sound awareness of how to embed the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework into daily practice. You will engage in professional learning, work professionally with colleagues, and ideally have good communication and interpersonal skills, working as a member of a vibrant and enthusiastic school team.
Additionally, as the successful applicant, you will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Southern Cross District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $8 500 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers
Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.

* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
