KCLS is seeking a full-time Case Worker based in Kununurra, WA – a role offering meaningful impact, professional growth, and the chance to experience the extraordinary landscapes and communities of the East Kimberley.

From advocacy and tailored support planning to community outreach, education, and engagement with remote communities, the work is dynamic, varied, and deeply rewarding. No two days look the same – but every day has purpose.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting clients directly as part of a client-focused service, with a focus on mental health and social support for clients experiencing family violence, elder abuse and/or tenancy/public housing issues.
* Working with clients to conduct comprehensive risk assessments, risk management and safety planning.
* Providing practical support, advocacy, and referrals to assist people access resources such as crisis accommodation, housing, income support and debt relief, personal emotional and wellbeing sessions and support in court proceedings.
* Ensuring appropriate and effective service delivery for our client community, including cultural appropriateness, dignity, respect, and accessibility for all clients.
* Being a part of our reflective community of practice, working closely with the team to ensure improvements in our service to the community.
* Working with other staff to promote and co-deliver programs and initiatives that inform communities across the Kimberley region regarding FDV, elder abuse, and tenancy/public housing issues.
* Identifying law reform and systemic reform priorities, and strategising on how to effectively address them.
* Participating in interagency networks to build/maintain relationships with referring agencies, key organisations, community leaders and local people relevant to the area.

Your Experience, Skills, and Spirit
To be eligible, candidates must have social work (or similar) qualifications, community service (or similar) diplomas and/or experience in client-centred social work, community work or a related field.
While 5+ years of experience is preferred for appointment, candidates with a minimum of 12 months' experience in a relevant role are encouraged to apply and will be considered for the Case Worker position.
You will also demonstrate:
* Experience providing client support in at least one of the following practice areas: family violence, elder abuse, or tenancy/public housing.
* Demonstrated experience in working with clients experiencing at least one of our practice areas (family violence, elder abuse and tenancy/public housing).
* An understanding of trauma-informed practice and the effects of trauma on wellbeing.
* Experience conducting risk assessments, determining the level of risk and safety planning.
* Experience in providing crisis support and advocacy to women and children experiencing or escaping family and/or who are in crisis.
* Highly developed interpersonal communication skills, including dealing with clients with empathy, and working effectively as part of a team.
* Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage competing demands, keep accurate files and records, meet deadlines.
* Demonstrated understanding of family violence including the individual, familial, legal and social legal involved.
* An understanding and commitment to principles of social justice and to working effectively with Indigenous people.
* Knowledge of community resources relevant to the needs of the clients.
* High degree of comfort operating in the community outside an office environment, including working with clients in their homes and other external locations.
* Demonstrated personal resilience, adaptability, initiative, and ability to meet the challenges of remote service delivery.
While not essential, the following experience will be highly regarded:
* Prior work in a community legal centre or similar setting.
* Exposure to regional or remote service delivery environments.
* Experience developing or delivering community education programs.

* Successful candidates will need (or be able to obtain) a current WA 'C' Class Driver's Licence, a Working with Children Check (WA), and a National Police Clearance.
