We are currently looking to undertake a National Heavy Vehicle Fleet Manager to join our team in our Brisbane Depot located in Richlands.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager to step into a dynamic role within an Australia wide family-owned general freight transport company. You will be responsible for the strategic and operational management of a national fleet of heavy vehicles (prime movers, trailers, forklifts and light vehicles), ensuring safety, compliance, cost efficiency, and fleet availability across multiple regions.
This role will require you to work closely with our Workshop, Operations, Accounts, Compliance & Safety departments to successfully fulfill the requirements of this role.
Key responsibilities include:
* Oversee day-to-day operation of a nationwide heavy vehicle fleet
* Ensure fleet availability meets business and customer requirements
* Standardise fleet practices across depots and states – servicing and the like.
* Liaise directly with compliance team to ensure compliance with:
o Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)
o Chain of Responsibility (CoR)
o NHVR, fatigue, mass, maintenance, and load restraint laws
* Follow and support implemented audit safety systems, policies, and procedures
* Support compliance with any corrective actions
* Report directly to compliance regarding vehicle maintenance for accreditation purposes.
* Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs
* Support current workshop manager with workshop, external repairers, and service contracts
* Manage asset lifecycle: procurement, replacement, disposal
* Improve vehicle reliability and reduce downtime
* Ensure Gearbox system is up to date
* Manage fleet budgets
* Control operating costs: fuel, tyres, maintenance
* Analyse TCO (Total Cost of Ownership)
* Negotiate supplier and OEM contracts nationally
* Lead & Assist Brisbane Workshop from a paperwork side.
* Influence depot managers and operations teams
* Manage fleet management systems (Navman and Gearbox)
* Use data to improve:
o Fuel efficiency
o Utilisation
o Safety performance
* Drive national fleet improvement projects
* Manage fuel cards and fuel fobs / toll devices

Skills & Experience
* Proven experience managing heavy vehicle fleets
* Strong knowledge of Australian heavy vehicle legislation
* Mechanical trade background
* Financial acumen and contract negotiation skills with procurement.

* Gearbox Fleet Maintenance
