Project Overview:
Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.
Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.
Job Summary:
In this role, you will liaise between engineering and field operations and provide guidance on executing constructability plans. You will lead construction design decisions, interdisciplinary reviews, and project staffing. You will monitor construction performance and review deliverables. You will use your expertise to improve Bechtel's existing methods by initiating project assessments and implementing improvements.
This role is offered on a FIFO basis to North Queensland, operating on a 2:1 roster
Major Responsibilities:
* Supervises and/or directs craft activities as assigned.
* Schedules work to be performed from 3-week lookahead scaffold requests and reviews work accomplished by each craft.
* Performs general functions inherent in all supervisory field positions. .
* Coordinates established area operational plans.
* Coordinates activities with other disciplines or areas and clients' resident representatives, as instructed by construction management.
* Ensures the most current design document is used to complete the work and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
* Ensures assigned construction operations and subcontractors' performance are in compliance with specifications and within schedules and budgets.
* Ensures the implementation of corporate/project policies, procedures, and instructions within assigned operations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
* Requires 5-8 years of relevant scaffolding industrial project experience or 9 -12 years of relevant scaffolding work experience
Required Knowledge and Skills:
* Knowledge of a single or multi-discipline construction or engineering operation.
* Prior experience on construction projects with knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
* Strong analytical and judicious planning: able to prioritize and balance short-term and long-term priorities.
* Knowledge of the use of subcontracts, and the contractor and subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
* Experience working with, supervising and administering subcontractors and/or Direct Hire workforce.
* Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health.
* Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements.
