Job Summary
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing and maintaining advanced network infrastructure to support the organization's business operations. The role leads network projects, ensures high availability and performance, mentors junior engineers, and plays a critical role in developing and enforcing network security policies to maintain compliance with industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Network Design and Architecture: design and implement scalable, secure, high‐performance network solutions (LAN, WAN, WLAN, SD‐WAN, etc.), maintain architecture documentation, evaluate new technologies.
* Network Operations and Maintenance: oversee daily operations, monitor and troubleshoot complex issues, perform regular maintenance upgrades and patches.
* Network Security: develop and enforce security policies (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS), conduct assessments and vulnerability scans, ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
* Project Management: lead network‐related projects, manage planning, execution, delivery, collaborate with cross‐functional teams.
* Mentorship and Leadership: provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, conduct training, act as escalation point.
* Documentation and Reporting: maintain detailed documentation, generate performance and incident reports.
* Research and Development: stay updated on emerging technologies, evaluate and implement innovative solutions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Technical Skills:
* Expertise in network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless systems).
* Advanced knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, DNS, DHCP).
* Proficiency in monitoring and diagnostic tools (SolarWinds, Wireshark, Nagios).
* Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and virtualization technologies.
* Familiarity with network automation and scripting (Python, Ansible).
Soft Skills:
* Strong leadership and project management skills.
* Excellent problem‐solving and analytical abilities.
* Effective communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with SDN and NFV.
* Knowledge of cybersecurity principles.
* Familiarity with ITIL processes.
* Experience managing large‐scale enterprise networks.
Additional Requirements:
Security Clearance: Australian citizen with an active NV1 clearance is required.
Work Location: Must be willing to work onsite 5 days a week.
