Primary Care Clinician - Australia
The role of a Primary Care Clinician is to provide high-quality patient care in a localized provision of services setting, reducing the need for hospital access.
Job Summary:
This position involves telephone triaging and assessing need for face-to-face appointments. The ideal candidate will be an autonomous clinician with a proven track record of delivering high-quality care within Primary Care settings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assess patients over the phone and determine the necessity for in-person consultations.
* Take responsibility for patient assessment, treatment planning, and referral to specialist services as needed.
* Adhere to professional conduct and national guidelines.
* Conduct comprehensive patient histories, physical examinations, and use expert knowledge to identify potential diagnoses.
* Refer patients for necessary investigations and/or specialist services.
* Independently decide on and carry out treatment, including prescribing medicines.
* Make onward referrals to other services as required.
* Ensure continuity of care.
* Work collaboratively within a local healthcare team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Experience working in Primary Care settings and dealing with minor ailments is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
