Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Collections Manager to join our leadership team and oversee the effectiveness of our arrears and recovery function. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving collections performance, coaching a high-performing team, and implementing strategies that balance strong recoveries with a respectful, customer-first approach.
The role is critical to maintaining loan book health and ensuring compliance with ASIC, AFCA, and NCCP guidelines. This includes collaborating with Credit, Legal & Compliance, and Customer Experience teams to ensure regulatory compliance and high-quality resolutions.
A key responsibility of this role is to lead, mentor, and develop the in-house and offshore collections team, including escalations and hardship specialists. This involves overseeing day-to-day collections operations, with a focus on achieving recovery targets across different delinquency buckets (e.g., 30+, 60+, 90+, 120+).
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute strategies to reduce arrears, charge-offs, and improve portfolio performance.
* Own and continuously improve collections scripts, call workflows, and digital engagement strategies.
* Monitor key metrics and produce regular reporting to senior leadership and the board.
This role requires a proven track record of managing a collections team and meeting recovery targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Australian credit and consumer lending regulations (NCCP, ASIC, AFCA) and excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* 5+ years of experience in collections, recoveries, or credit operations in a financial services or lending environment.
* Proven experience managing a collections team and meeting recovery targets.
* Strong understanding of Australian credit and consumer lending regulations (NCCP, ASIC, AFCA).
* Excellent leadership, coaching, and people management skills.
