ARA Fire is one of Australia's largest privately‐owned Fire Protection and Detection companies. Our Western Australian branch located in Balcatta is growing rapidly, and we are seeking a Trades Assistant to join our dynamic team, with ongoing opportunities to progress into a Sprinkler Fitting Apprenticeship.
About the Role
This role is ideal for someone looking to start a career in the fire protection industry. You will begin as a Trades Assistant, gaining hands‐on experience while supporting our sprinkler fitting team on‐site.
For the right candidate, this role provides a clear pathway into a fully supported apprenticeship, where you will work toward a nationally recognised Certificate III in Fire Protection.
What You Will Be Doing
As a Trades Assistant:
* Assist qualified sprinkler fitters with day‐to‐day site tasks
* Prepare tools, materials, and equipment for installations
* Support site setup, manual handling, and general labouring duties
* Maintain a clean and safe work environment in line with WHS requirements
As You Progress Toward Apprenticeship:
* Installation Support: Assist in installing wet/dry pipe sprinkler systems, hydrants, hose reels, and fire pumps
* Fabrication: Learn to cut, bend, thread, and groove various types of piping and fittings
* Maintenance & Testing: Help conduct servicing, inspections, and testing of fire protection systems
* Technical Learning: Learn to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and fire service specifications
* Safety First: Follow WHS regulations and contribute to Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS)
What We Are Looking For
* Education: Completion of Year 10 (minimum) or Year 12 (preferred)
* Aptitude: Strong mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in a trade career
* Physicality: Fit and capable of manual work, including heights and confined spaces
* Requirements: Current Driver's Licence and Construction White Card
* Attitude: Reliable, punctual, hardworking, and eager to learn
* Previous labouring or trades assistant experience is advantageous but not essential.
