Overview Lead high‑impact stakeholder engagement for a major infrastructure program. This hands‑on Senior Communications Advisor opportunity supports a significant road infrastructure portfolio across the South Coast region. The role involves leading external engagement and issues management, providing high‑level advice to senior leaders, and guiding a small team to deliver clear, consistent communications.
Duties and Responsibilities
Deliver proactive community engagement, stakeholder management and community relations activities across the region.
Provide strategic advice on media, public affairs, correspondence and issues management.
Lead and coach a small communications and engagement team to deliver high‑quality collateral and stakeholder updates.
Partner with project teams to identify emerging communication risks and implement proactive responses.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community, industry, business and government stakeholders.
Represent the program in public‑facing forums and support sensitive stakeholder interactions.
Qualifications
Experience working within change or communications delivery teams, ideally supporting major infrastructure and construction projects, across communications, stakeholder engagement, public affairs and issues management.
Experience working within government (local, state, or federal) or the transport sector is highly desirable.
Confidence dealing with difficult stakeholders and managing critical conversations.
Proven ability to lead, coach and uplift team performance and delivery standards.
Strong writing and editing capability, producing clear, concise and consistent materials.
Social media capability and/or IAP2 (or equivalent) community engagement training (highly regarded).
