Are you a dog loving photographer? Ragamuffin Pet Photography, is expanding and looking for an Associate Photographer to join the team!
Ragamuffin specialises in outdoor dog photography with a natural style and patient approach. If you love taking photos but don't want to deal with the business side of being a photographer, plus you're skilled, friendly and happy to get covered in slobbery doggo kisses, then this could be the perfect role for you!
**OVERVIEW**
You'll be photographing dogs and their people outdoors at pre-scouted park locations. Sessions typically take 30-90 mins, depending on the number of dogs and types of session. You will deliver RAW files via dropbox - absolutely no editing or culling required.
You'll be trained with 1:1 coaching to learn all the poses and secrets of the trade necessary to capture gorgeous, personality-filled portraits of pets. While there is a must-have shotlist for each session, you are definitely encouraged to have fun and get creative with the job too.
Sessions tend to be booked on weekends and evenings, 3-4 weeks in advance. I'm happy to work with you to find a schedule that suits.
This is a subcontractor position - you will NOT be an employee. Payment is $100-300 per session, depending on the type of session. This works out to be roughly $100-150/hour.
**Requirements**:
- Strong portfolio showcasing portrait photography skills - prior experience photographing pets is **not** required.
- Comfort around animals and exceptional patience is a must. The dogs we work with have all different levels of training (and sometimes no training at all).
- We find that animals can often sense stress, so the ability to maintain a relaxed atmosphere through the session is also vital.
- Proficiency with DSLR or mirrorless cameras
- Own gear
- DSLR or mirrorless camera with high frame rate capabilities
- 24-70mm or similar lens
- 70-200mm or similar lens
- Own car (local travel radius will be set and you will be reimbursed for any travel outside that radius)
- Flexibility to work on weekends and evenings as required
**Benefits**
- Creative, fun and meaningful work
- Flexible Hours - work with us to set a schedule that suits you (most sessions are booked on weekends and evenings)
- Competitive Pay - $150-300/session with generous bonuses
- My goal is to build longterm relationships with my associate photographers, so I'll be focused on ensuring this is a highly rewarding role for you.
- Growth Opportunities: Ongoing training and the opportunity to expand your role as the studio grows.
**You are a good fit if**
- You genuinely love dogs (and ideally you are a pet parent yourself!)
- You take great pride in your work and appreciate constructive feedback
- You are punctual and reliable
- You love photography, but not the part where you have to find clients, sell stuff, and ask for money
- You enjoy being outdoors and you're not afraid to get a bit muddy for a great photo
**You are not a good fit if**
- You are thinking this is a quick and easy way to pick up some more "jobs" without a commitment to the craft, the team, and further developing yourself
- You are not willing to dedicate some time to learning and training
- Your motivation for joining our team is to learn how to run your own photography business
