The Opportunity
A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Finance Business Partner to play a pivotal role in shaping the organisation’s financial management and strategic direction. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will lead the finance team and oversee the delivery of accurate financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, and analysis to inform key business decisions and reporting obligations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and mentoring a small finance team to ensure the timely delivery of high‑quality financial and management accounting services, including accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger functions.
- Overseeing the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports for senior executives, the Board, and key stakeholders, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and strategic insight.
- Managing the development of annual budgets, mid‑year reviews, and financial forecasts, and contributing to the preparation of board papers and key planning documents.
- Preparing annual statutory financial statements and managing the external audit process in accordance with accounting standards and compliance requirements.
- Developing and maintaining sophisticated long‑term financial models to support strategic planning, capital investment, and reporting obligations.
- Providing financial analysis and modelling to support business cases, project evaluations, and decision‑making across operational and commercial areas.
- Ensuring robust internal controls, governance, and financial systems are maintained and continuously improved to meet business and compliance requirements.
- Supporting procurement, asset valuation, and taxation functions (GST, FBT, NTER) to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely lodgement.
- Partnering with business units to deliver financial guidance and insights that drive performance and sustainability.
Your Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline, with full CPA or CA accreditation.
- Significant experience in financial and management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting within a corporate, commercial, or complex organisational environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards and statutory reporting requirements.
- Proven experience leading, mentoring, and developing small teams to achieve operational excellence.
- Advanced financial modelling, analysis, and Excel skills, with the ability to translate data into meaningful business insights.
- Demonstrated capability in preparing complex financial reports and statements for executive and board‑level audiences.
- Experience managing external audits, asset valuations, and taxation compliance.
- Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and partner across all levels of an organisation.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
