Details: City and Environment Directorate (CED) is looking for an experienced and motivated Business Administrator to join our Roads ACT – Business Support team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in supporting the teams that manage Canberra’s roads, paths, stormwater networks, and other essential public infrastructure.

The Opportunity
As the Business Administrator, you will lead a small team responsible for delivering a broad range of business, administrative, and financial support functions. Working under limited direction, you’ll ensure Roads ACT has the systems, information and support needed to meet operational and strategic objectives.
You will:
* Manage business administration functions, including accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting, debt management and HR support (pay reports, recruitment coordination, induction processes, training support).
* Lead records management, technology support coordination and general office administration.
* Support branch recruitment activities including preparing business cases, position descriptions and advertising content.
* Coordinate information and reporting for Government Business, cross-directorate requests and internal reports.
* Lead and contribute to business improvement projects.
* Supervise up to four staff and foster a positive, respectful and service-focused team culture.

* Demonstrated experience in office and business administration, including implementing process improvements.
* Strong leadership and supervisory capability, with the ability to guide team performance and deliver results.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
* Visa holders are eligible to apply for both permanent and temporary roles. Those with eligible visas may be considered for permanent employment, while individuals with temporary residency or limited-duration visas may be offered permanent employment for the duration of their visas.
* Diploma in Business Administration (or equivalent) desirable.
* Driver’s licence C Class is essential.

* This position does not require a Security Clearance
Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately for a period of six months with the possibility of extension up to 12 months.
A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only.
This position will be moving to a new workplace designed for activity-based working (ABW). Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
