We are looking for an experienced Workplace Health & Safety Advisor to join a close-knit team in Cairns.
About the role
The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor is responsible for providing expert advice to leaders and workers on all areas of workplace health and safety. This role requires the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of WHS systems, policies, and procedures that promote a safe and compliant working environment. To be successful in this role, you will require demonstrated experience in reworking and optimising WHS Management Systems.
In addition, the role holds responsibility for managing Workers' Compensation (WorkCover) obligations, including injury management, return-to-work programs, and claims administration.
What you'll need to be considered
Essential
Tertiary qualifications, or a minimum of 5 years experience, in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline.
Demonstrated knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management principles, and incident investigation.
Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining WHS management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Proven experience managing workers' compensation and return-to-work programs.
Strong time management skills – ability to effectively manage large projects while completing business as usual tasks.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
High-level analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.
Ability to obtain and maintain a National Police Check during the course of employment.
Ability to obtain working with vulnerable persons clearance if required.
Ability to travel to remote locations on occasion may be required.
Desirable
Certificate IV in Personal Injury Management or Return to Work Coordination.
