Environmental Advisor opportunity
Approx. $55-$60 per hour plus superannuation

About the role
Utilities provider requires an experienced Environmental Advisor to join them on a short-term assignment for a duration of up to a period of 6-9 months. As the Environmental Advisor, you will work within the Environment and Climate Adaptation team, providing strategic and expert advice across environmental, water quality management, and climate change mitigation and adaptation matters.
Responsibilities and duties
Management, implementation and continuous improvement of the agency's Environmental Management System (EMS) consistent with ISO***** Standard and in line with emerging practices in environment and climate change.
Management of the agency's water quality monitoring programs, including BGA, nutrients and recycled water.
Incorporating strategic works into the agency's Corporate Strategy and Plan.
Provision of timely environmental or statutory advice and support to the business, including for strategic, project-based and incident management needs.
Development and implementation of the agency's climate change mitigation strategies and initiatives to achieve the agency's emissions reduction targets in line with the Statement of Obligations.
Implementation of the agency's climate adaptation plan, including plan, governance, risk and technical input.
Provision of environmental advice and services including auditing to capital projects in line with legislation, the EMS and other relevant strategies and objectives.
Experience and Skills
Awareness of State and Federal climate, environmental, planning and cultural heritage legislation and ability to interpret and apply in a practical setting.
Sound understanding of natural resource management principles and concepts, in particular as they relate to the management of water resources.
Understanding of systems designed to identify and manage environmental risks and issues, including Environmental Management Systems (EMS) and the ISO***** Standard.
Understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation principles, and contemporary practice and methods.
Skills in environmental risk assessment, control development and auditing.
Skills in environmental and/or water quality monitoring programs, including an understanding of basic lab analysis requirements and ability to process and interpret data.
Sound business knowledge and skills including ability to prioritise and balance multiple tasks, manage recurrent or capital budgets and preparation of professional documents.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Qualifications
Degree qualified in Environmental Sciences, Climate change sciences, or a related field.

Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
