About the role:
As a core, the HR & Payroll Officer will support the Payroll Manager in the timely and accurate processing of payroll operations, including pay runs and timesheet management, particularly during a period of short-term maternity leave. The HR & Payroll Officer will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies while maintaining the confidentiality and integrity of all payroll data. In addition, this role will support recruitment, inductions and general HR Admin when applicable.
The HR & Payroll Officer's key Responsibilities include:
* Assisting with the preparation and processing of end-to-end payroll on a weekly and fortnightly basis, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
* Reviewing and validating timesheets, ensuring hours worked are correctly recorded and approved.
* Responding to payroll-related queries from staff in a professional and timely manner.
* Assisting with payroll reporting, reconciliations and audits.
* Maintaining employee payroll records and ensure all information is up to date.
* Assisting in the interpretation and application of relevant Awards, Enterprise Agreements and Fair Work legislation.
* Supporting the Payroll Manager with other administrative and payroll-related tasks as required.
* Ensuring compliance with all internal controls, policies and procedures relating to payroll operations.
* Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function.
* Assisting with the coordination of recruitment activities, including advertising vacancies, reference checks, preparing contracts and onboarding documents, scheduling interviews, and liaising with hiring managers.
* Supporting the delivery of site inductions and onboarding sessions for new employees and contractors.
* Maintaining accurate employee records throughout the recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding lifecycle.
* Responding to general HR-related queries and supporting the implementation of HR policies and procedures.
About you:
Qualifications:
* Certificate III or IV in Business Administration, Accounting or a related field (desirable).
* Payroll certification or related training (highly regarded).
Previous Knowledge & Experience:
* Prior experience in a payroll processing role, ideally within a medium-sized organisation.
* Managing end to end recruitment and selection processes
* Familiarity with payroll systems (e.g. Employment Hero, MYOB, Xero, or similar platforms).
* Understanding of PAYG, superannuation, leave entitlements and other payroll-related legislation.
* High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and Outlook.
