 
        
        About the Role 
These assistant management positions don't come up often! 
You will be an integral part of a small, effective & multi-cultural team, working side-by-side with an experienced Farm Manager to oversee and coordinate the daily operations at the Victoria Hill Breeder Farm. 
As the Breeder Farm Assistant Manager, you will be a robust support to the Farm Manager with the operation of a 6-shed modern breeder production farm in south-east Queensland. This is a development role for future Farm Managers. 
The position reports directly to the Farm Manager. 
Duties
- Assist the Farm Manager in the co-ordination of all farm activities for the achievement of short and long-term business objectives.
- Ensure all tasks are undertaken in a protected manner.
- Assist the Farm Manager to ensure appropriately trained staff are available for specialist tasks including egg grading, shed walks, fumigation etc.
- Under the direction of the Farm Manager, undertake serological monitoring and ensure that all medications are administered as required and in the appropriate manner.
- Ensure all farm administration duties are performed in accordance with Darwalla guidelines, including the completion of all relevant reports and documentation within specific time requirements.
- Assist the Farm Manager to engage and lead a team of people.
- On-call duties are required to monitor the farm - a mobile phone is provided.
Skills & Experience 
The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Previous poultry industry experience is required
- Conversant with animal welfare standards, legislative obligations and Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
- Self-motivated to work unsupervised and demonstrate effective time management skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- An integral member of the team and possess a demonstrated ability to manage and direct staff, whilst possessing an ability to allocate tasks to meet departmental objectives
- Strive to meet industry “best practice” standards
- Decision making and problem solving skills
- Conflict resolution skill
- Excellent communication skills
- Car and Licence
- Forklift ticket
