Municipal Ranger
We are seeking a dedicated and community-minded Municipal Ranger to support Council's animal management and compliance functions.
Reporting directly to the Manager Environment and Municipal, this role is responsible for enforcing Council's by-laws, monitoring compliance with legislation and policies, and delivering proactive animal management initiatives.
You will undertake a mix of enforcement, education, and community engagement – from issuing infringements and carrying out authorised officer duties to delivering animal management programs that promote responsible pet ownership and community safety.
Key Responsibilities
* Enforce Council's by-laws, policies, and local laws.
* Monitor and respond to animal management issues across the municipality.
* Issue infringements and act as an authorised officer under relevant legislation.
* Implement animal management programs with a strong focus on education and community awareness.
* Safely handle, trap, and transport animals as required.
Must Have
* Current Driver's Licence.
* Certificate IV in Local Government (Regulatory Services/Investigations) or ability to obtain.
* Firearms Licence – Categories A & B (or ability to obtain).
* Qualifications in Animal Management or related field.
* Accreditation in Behavioural & Training of Dangerous Animals (Dogs).
* National Police and Working with Children's Clearance.
* Demonstrated experience in dog handling, behaviour, trapping, and transport.
