An opportunity exists for an experienced and community-focused Waste Management Officer to join a high-performing team responsible for delivering critical waste and resource recovery services.
In this operational role, you'll work across a variety of functions — from attending transfer stations and assisting customers, to operating plant and equipment and ensuring compliance with environmental standards. Every day brings the chance to make a tangible difference to how waste is managed and recycled in the region.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide excellent customer service to members of the public and colleagues
* Perform duties at drop‑off zones, transfer stations, and the weighbridge
* Conduct labouring tasks including litter collection, weeding, and grounds maintenance
* Operate relevant plant and equipment safely and effectively
* Complete required records (e.g. work orders, WHS forms, weighbridge tickets)
* Contribute to environmental monitoring, site safety, and compliance tasks
* Work cooperatively as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment
What You'll Need
Essential
* Experience in the waste management or resource recovery industry
* Physical fitness and willingness to perform hands‑on labour
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
* Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and outside standard hours
* Class C driver licence (manual transmission)
* Immunisation against Hepatitis A & B (or willingness to participate in program)
* Understanding of WHS, EEO, and safe work practices
Desirable
* Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
* HR driver licence and driving experience
* Experience in weighbridge operations and computer systems
* Front End Loader and/or Forklift ticket
* White Card (Construction Induction)
* Knowledge of environmental and risk compliance in waste services
* Working Near Overhead Powerlines certification
