Job Description
2026-Mar-09 to 2026-Apr-10 Position Purpose: The Industrial Electrician is responsible for maintaining, installing, commissioning and improving electrical systems and equipment within the factory to ensure safe, reliable and efficient production. The role also supports the development of new plant and the introduction of emerging and advanced manufacturing technologies. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Electrical Maintenance & Operations
* Install, test, commission and maintain low voltage and three phase electrical systems used in manufacturing and production environments.
* Diagnose, fault find and repair electrical and electronic systems to minimise downtime and maintain production continuity.
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts and technical documentation.
* Install, maintain and repair switchboards, motor control centres (MCCs), motors, drives and associated equipment.
* Carry out preventative and breakdown maintenance in accordance with maintenance schedules and site priorities.
* Use electrical and electronic test equipment to verify system performance and compliance.
* Maintain accurate maintenance records, test results and work completion documentation.
New Plant Development & Commissioning:
* Participate in the installation, wiring, testing and commissioning of new plant, machinery and production lines.
* Support factory expansions, upgrades and capital works projects from an electrical installation and commissioning perspective.
* Install and connect power, control, instrumentation and safety circuits for newly developed or upgraded plant.
* Conduct pre start checks, commissioning tests and electrical verification prior to production handover.
* Assist with commissioning troubleshooting and fault rectification for new equipment.
Emerging Technologies & Advanced Systems:
* Work with modern automated and PLC controlled equipment, including variable speed drives (VSDs), smart sensors and industrial control systems.
* Assist with the integration of new and emerging technologies into existing plant to improve safety, reliability, energy efficiency and productivity.
* Perform advanced fault finding on complex electrical and electronic control systems used in modern manufacturing environments.
* Support the implementation of digital monitoring, condition monitoring and remote diagnostic systems from an electrical trade perspective.
* Provide practical electrical input into continuous improvement initiatives involving new technologies and upgraded equipment.
Safety, Compliance & Standards:
* Carry out all work in accordance with electrical safety legislation, Australian Standards and site safety systems.
* Follow isolation, lock out/tag out and permit procedures at all times.
* Complete job safety analyses, risk assessments and pre task safety checks before commencing work.
* Ensure all electrical work is completed to a high standard and compliant with regulatory and site requirements.
Teamwork & Communication:
* Work collaboratively with maintenance, engineering, production and external contractors.
* Provide guidance and on the job support to apprentices and less experienced team members.
* Participate in toolbox talks, shutdown planning and continuous improvement activities.
* Communicate clearly regarding faults, repairs, plant status and improvement opportunities.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Trade qualification as an Electrician (or equivalent).
* Current electrical licence (or ability to obtain and maintain).
* Demonstrated experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
* Proven ability in electrical fault finding, maintenance and commissioning of plant equipment.
* Experience working with automated equipment, control systems or modern manufacturing technologies is highly regarded.
