Overview
Beerenberg is seeking a proactive and quality-driven Quality & Food Safety Officer to elevate production excellence. You'll oversee day-to-day production activities, ensuring every jar is safe, consistent, and Beerenberg-quality. If you're detail-obsessed and process-minded, join the team to safeguard the reputation of one of South Australia's iconic brands.
Responsibilities
* Be the guardian of all things temperature, hygiene, and precision, overseeing daily freezer and chiller checks, equipment calibrations, chemical concentration testing, and startup verifications that keep the production floor running like clockwork.
* Champion product integrity by managing retention samples and gold standards, inspecting and releasing finished goods, verifying cleaning and sanitation activities, and ensuring every product that leaves site meets Beerenberg's high standards.
* Be the go-to production partner, working shoulder-to-shoulder with operators to complete online checks, cooking verifications, line clearances, and troubleshooting food-safety issues during shifts.
* Maintain compliance through environmental, water, and materials testing; coordinating external lab analysis; maintaining registers; completing audits and inspections; and active HACCP team member.
* Manage the critical stuff, placing product on HOLD when required, raising NCRs, chasing actions to closure, generating CofAs, and ensuring robust documentation.
* Be a continuous-improvement champion, spotting smarter ways of working, supporting the Technical team, and partnering with operational staff to uphold policies, procedures, and food-safety practices.
Qualifications / What you'll bring
* Are an early riser who loves a head start on the day; a 6am start suits you, and you'll be home early enough to enjoy your afternoon.
* Have a foundation in food science, ideally a Degree or Diploma, and know quality, risk, and WHS principles that keep products and people safe.
* Bring analytical skills to interpret data, troubleshoot issues, and present insights to help the team make smarter, safer decisions.
* Ability to solve problems on the fly, stay calm under pressure, and find practical solutions to keep production humming.
* Are a collaborative all-rounder who works with operators, managers, suppliers, and auditors, fostering a positive team environment.
* Communicate clearly—numerically, verbally, and in writing—explaining the "why" behind quality and food safety.
* Take pride in finishing skills, manage time well, and ensure every checklist, test, and report is completed accurately and on time.
* Bring passion and drive to deliver excellence and uphold Beerenberg's reputation for quality.
* Are physically capable of hands-on work across the site and able to meet medical and fitness requirements.
* Are tech-savvy, comfortable with MS Office and PC-based systems, including platforms like Attaché.
* Have a love of food, flavour, and all things delicious—especially when South Australian and Beerenberg!
