Meteorological Support Officer | Alice Springs
We are currently looking for a technical officer to work in the Bureau of Meteorology in Alice Springs. The role is based on-site and would suit someone who lives near, or regularly travels through, Alice Springs Airport. This is not a full-time job and daily work hours may range between 1 to 3 hours depending upon the amount of work to be done. In this role, you will complete routine instrument checks, basic maintenance, and site support tasks from Monday to Friday starting at 8 AM.
What you do
Complete daily checks on solar radiation instruments.
Clean and maintain ceilometers, visibility meters, and sensors.
Check air conditioners and report facility condition.
Load AMBILS and record sondes.
Dispatch water samples.
Manage monthly filter cleaning and PAP cleaning.
Submit monthly consumables updates.
Receive freight and gas deliveries.
Provide contractor access during HUB and non‑HUB periods.
Report failed or stuck balloons.
Support simple fault-finding under the direction of the Adelaide Hub.
