OverviewBlacktown City Libraries are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Branch Librarian to join the Customer Service team on a permanent, full time basis.
Located at the Lalor Park branch and reporting to the Customer Services Coordinator, you will lead a small team in providing exceptional library services to the community.The position is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the branch, including delivering regular programs for children, providing community technology training sessions, stock management, merchandising and display, and providing professional information and readers advisory services.ResponsibilitiesDeliver regular programs for childrenProvide community technology training sessionsStock management, merchandising and displayProvide professional information and readers advisory servicesEssentialQualifications and experienceDegree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)Eligible for professional membership of ALIASolid library experienceWorking with Children Check (WWCC)DesirableDemonstrated commitment to customer serviceExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsAbility to work in both a team and independentlyAbility to lead a teamRelevant computer skills, including experience with electronic and online resourcesAvailability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as rosteredExperience in library promotional activitiesExperience supervising staffExperience in cash handlingExperience in library relocation and/or refurbishmentFirst aid certificationAbility to speak a community languageCurrent class C driver's licenceRemuneration and BenefitsThe salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.Entry level for this position starts at $1,502.79 per week35-hour working weekOpportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangementEmployee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 12% employer contribution to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubsThis position has been identified as child related work, in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Regulation 2013.
