Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) is Australia's leading authority in coastal water safety, drowning prevention and rescue operations. With more than 198,000 members across 315 Surf Life Saving Clubs, we represent the largest volunteer movement of its kind in Australia.

Since 1907, Surf Life Saving has saved over 700,000 lives. In the 2023/24 season alone, our members carried out 8,857 rescues, delivered 49,331 first aid treatments, and contributed more than 1.46 million volunteer patrol hours. Job Description

About the Role

The Event Day Officer is a casual, hands‑on role supporting the delivery of SLSA's national surf sports events, including the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships, Coolangatta Gold, and Iron Series.

This is a practical role suited to people who enjoy working in dynamic, fast‑paced event environments.

Key Responsibilities

Depending on the event and your experience, duties may include:

* Assisting with event setup, pack‑down and general site operations
* Providing administrative and logistical support on event days
* Coordinating with volunteers, officials, contractors and suppliers
* Supporting event equipment, signage and infrastructure
* Assisting with entries, results, communications and briefings
* Operating event equipment where licensed and competent
* Supporting workplace health and safety requirements

Desired Skills and Experience

Who You Are

Our ideal candidate will have:

Qualifications:

* Event, sport or risk management qualifications (desirable)
* Senior First Aid (desirable)
* Forklift, telehandler or skid‑steer licence (highly regarded)

Knowledge and Experience:

* Experience assisting with events, sport or large‑scale activities
* Understanding of basic workplace health and safety
* Experience working in volunteer‑based or not‑for‑profit environments (desirable)

Skills and Attributes:

* Reliable, flexible and able to work weekends and public holidays
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A practical, can‑do attitude and willingness to assist where needed
* Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment
