* Salary: ASIC 4 from $94,198 to $112,011 and EL1 from $123,444 to $142,790 (depending on experience), plus 15.4% superannuation

The practice

Enforcement Legal Services is responsible for ASIC's civil, administrative and criminal enforcement activities, and provides legal advice and litigation services to ASIC's Enforcement and Compliance teams and the Commission. This includes advising on investigations, conducting civil litigation and defending ASIC's administrative decisions.

Enforcement Legal Services sits within the broader Legal Services group that is responsible for the delivery of legal services across ASIC and is instrumental in driving ASIC's reputation as a modern and effective regulator.

The Civil Litigation team leads ASIC's in-house litigation practice. Our Litigation Counsel act as the solicitor on the record and are responsible for the conduct of ASIC's civil litigation in the High Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and the State Supreme Courts. The Civil Litigation team also manages ASIC's relationship with external law firms and provides strategic guidance in those matters where ASIC has engaged an external law firm to act for it.The team conducts many varied, high-profile litigation matters, details of which can be found at Media releases | ASIC.

The Administrative Law team is also part of ASIC's in-house litigation practice. The team is responsible for carriage of merits review proceedings in the Administrative Review Tribunal and judicial review proceedings in the Federal Court in respect of administrative decisions made by ASIC. The team also provides advisory services to all of ASIC concerning administrative law issues such as procedural fairness.

About The Roles

Under the supervision of highly experienced civil and administrative law litigators you will deliver high quality representation and advice in matters conducted by ASIC's in-house practice by:

* being responsible for the day-to-day conduct of ASIC's administrative law or civil litigation including:
o collating and/or reviewing evidence;
o drafting pleadings, affidavits, statements, submissions and/or other Court/Tribunal documents;
o briefing and working with counsel;
o briefing and working with expert witnesses; and
o attending Court/Tribunal hearings
* providing strategic advice and guidance to the Commission in relation to ASIC's administrative law or civil litigation; and
* providing advice to Enforcement & Compliance teams regarding the conduct of investigations.
To be a Litigation Lawyer in our teams you will need to have:

* 3 to 5 years of hands-on litigation experience (and be admitted to practice in the High Court, Federal Court and State Supreme Courts)
* strong technical legal, communication and organisational skills
* a commitment to providing superior client service
* a real interest in making a difference through important regulatory litigation with a consumer protection focus.
