We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for engineering design and project delivery within the mining and mineral processing industry. The role requires proven capability in equipment specification, vendor liaison, and technical reviews, with responsibility for delivering project scopes safely, to budget, and to schedule.
Working within multidisciplinary project teams, the engineer will support design, procurement, construction support, testing, and commissioning of process-driven facilities. The work spans a range of commodities, including gold, lithium, iron ore, and base metals, across projects in Australia and overseas.
This role suits an engineer who has held senior positions within engineering consultancies and values practical design, clear communication with vendors and clients, and outcomes that perform in operating environments.
Your Key Responsibilities
Undertake the mechanical design of complex systems, with a strong focus on materials handling, conveying, and industrial equipment.
Develop concept, detailed, and fabrication ready designs aligned with project scope, standards, and budgets.
Produce high quality drawings, models, calculations, and technical documentation suitable for manufacture and construction.
Ensure designs are practical, safe, and optimised for fabrication, installation, and maintenance.
Support site activities including design clarification, technical queries, and commissioning where required.
Provide technical guidance, design reviews, and mentoring to junior engineers and designers.
Contribute engineering input during tendering, scoping, and estimating phases.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and hazard identification processes.
Support the continuous improvement of engineering standards, templates, and workflows.
Maintain accurate, traceable documentation in line with ISO 9001 quality systems.
Support the adoption of improved tools, systems, and design methodologies.
What we\'re looking for
Tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.
10+ years\' experience in mechanical engineering within the mining and/or mineral processing.
Strong experience in mechanical design for process-driven facilities, including materials handling and industrial equipment.
Proven capability using relevant mechanical design and drafting software.
Experience with equipment specification, vendor liaison, and technical reviews.
Site experience supporting installation, construction, and commissioning activities.
