Teaching Early Childhood Education Professionals
The role involves providing excellent teaching at a variety of educational settings, including preparing preservice teachers for a successful placement experience. This position demands proactive compliance with regulatory frameworks, enhancing student engagement, and ensuring their academic success.
Key responsibilities include:
* Developing current, relevant material for the Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education (GDECE) and other courses as required.
* Ensuring the quality and compliance of each unit with Australian standards and regulatory bodies.
* Engaging in professional development to enhance teaching quality and stay current with emerging practices.
* Delivering engaging classes, tutorials, and placement induction programs both online and face-to-face.
* Incorporating feedback from students to enhance their learning experience.
* Collaborating with all relevant stakeholders to ensure adherence to workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
* Actively participating in the investigation and resolution of incidents.
* Reporting incidents to the Course Coordinator/HOD, including potential breaches of the Code of Conduct/policies, Health & Safety risks.
* Other tasks as required by the Course Coordinator/Head of Department.
Requirements
For this role, you need to hold an ACECQA recognised early childhood teaching qualification at postgraduate level - minimum of a completed master's degree or PhD. You will also need to have at least 1 year of experience working as an Early Childhood Teacher in Australian early learning services.
In addition, you'll have:
* High professional and ethical conduct, including academic integrity, resilience, and a collaborative approach to both teaching and sector engagement.
* An ability to take initiative, work independently with limited supervision, and be proactive.
* A strong understanding of Australian legislation, guidelines, operational requirements, and pedagogical frameworks, including the Education and Care Services National Regulations.
* A strong understanding of theory/practice in the relevant discipline, and how to turn this into engaging content for students.
* Flexibility and a can-do attitude.
* Willingness to undertake at least 20 hours of continued professional development each year.
* Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability and willingness to contribute to professional collaboration and academic administration.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Please note that a valid Working with Children Check is a requirement for this role. If you are successfully hired for this role, you must obtain a check, and you will be reimbursed. If you have a VIT Provisional Registration or Teacher Registration, you will not require a separate WWCC.
