Job Title: Senior Manager, Data Governance and Quality
This is a senior leadership role that will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and discoverability of the library's collection data. The role requires a deep understanding of metadata standards, cataloguing principles, and relevant technologies.
* The successful candidate will have experience leading teams in a changing environment and will possess excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with a keen eye for detail.
* They will also have exceptional communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
* Familiarity with foundational AI/Machine Learning concepts and their potential application to data quality is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and implement a comprehensive data quality strategy for the library, aligned with institutional goals and industry best practices.
* Lead initiatives to update and enhance metadata for Indigenous materials using culturally appropriate terms.
* Establish and document data quality standards, policies, and procedures for various data types and systems within the Library environment.
* Leverage library systems, data analysis tools, and scripting languages to monitor data quality, automate checks, and facilitate data remediation.
* Explore, evaluate, and recommend AI/Machine Learning tools and techniques to enhance data quality processes.
Requirements:
* Library qualifications and previous relevant experience in a library environment.
* Demonstrated high level experience in the use of best practice metadata standards for data quality management, cataloguing principles, and relevant technologies.
* Demonstrated understanding of current trends in data, specifically in library environments.
