Job Description
Join the Duketon underground operations as an experienced underground mine planning engineer and support the team in achieving business objectives through detailed, high‐quality planning, scheduling and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and present mine development plans including level layouts, decline, escape ways and ventilation to meet LOM requirements.
- Develop, compare and rank multiple mining strategies in collaboration with senior mine geologists and under the direction of the technical services manager.
- Produce mining schedules in accordance with each strategy, including quarterly and life‐of‐mine forecasts.
- Based on the optimized mine strategy, produce and present the full LOM plan and schedules on a quarterly basis.
- Communicate the LOM plan to all relevant personnel to ensure awareness of future targets and operational directions.
- Update and maintain mine planning and design procedures for all tasks performed within the engineering team.
- Identify and report any issues or risks in mine development, and create systems to improve planning methods.
- Update all mining costs quarterly, using a 12‐month rolling average based on actuals.
- Review economic evaluations for each mine design completed within the engineering team to ensure financial objectives are met and material meets determined cut‐off grades.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings during the mine design process and assist in preparing the yearly mining budget.
Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering.
- Demonstrated experience as an underground mine planning engineer.
- Advanced MS Excel skills and Deswik capability.
- Ability to integrate practical mining constraints with strategic mine design and scheduling.
- Confidence producing, reviewing, and communicating LOM strategies, schedules and technical documentation.
- Experience preparing technical reports, reserve inputs and planning documentation in line with JORC or other relevant standards.
- Demonstrated commitment to site safety systems, hazard identification and maintaining high safety standards.
