These roles include clinical leadership, emergency as well as a rural generalist mix that is unparalleled. The organisation has roles within the hospital setting as well as a team of dedicated and compassionate GPs that can work with the communities, including an Airforce base, and with the tourists that transit through this tourist attraction. The town has cafes, playgrounds, a large pool, library, multiple primary schools and two high schools.
To be eligible for these roles, you must hold work rights in Australia (or equivalent role as specialists in emergency, anaesthetics or general practice in Australia, NZ or UK (no other countries deemed equivalent)), and medical qualifications. For all roles you will need an interest in rural health.
(VAC Clinical Director of Emergency ($454-617K TRP)
As the Clinical Director of Emergency Medicine, you will work alongside other stable key leaders in the clinical team (e.g., general surgery (with two theatres), maternity, ENT, ophthalmology, dental, plastics, orthopaedics, paediatrics), working in the 60 bed hospital with unique exposure to the varied and interesting case mix of tropical medicine, trauma, and comorbid patients. This emergency medicine context provides the challenge and satisfaction of servicing this rural setting serving the local communities that feed into the hospital. The Emergency Department has strong working relationships with retrieval services as well as a larger metropolitan hospital service, which provide FACRRM registrars, interns, residents and medical students.
For those interested in the non-clinical there is the opportunity to gain academic status with a strong medical school recognised for its rural medicine. There is the opportunity to contribute to specialist portfolios within the hospital as well as teaching of junior doctors and medical students. This role is onsite and is full-time. This could be a sideways lifestyle move for you or a step up in your career.
You will need FACEM or FACRRM/FRACGP or equivalent with advanced speciality training in emergency medicine.
(VAC Clinical Director of GP Anaesthetics ($392-480K + shift penalties + on-call allowances)
This role is for a leading rural generalist, GP Anaesthetist (GPA) or FANZCA to step into the role of Clinical Director. The role combines clinical leadership with hands-on practice.
Your new role would combine 2-3 days of anaesthetics (clinical and admin), time in ED and as a community GP or both. The roster flexibility can be arranged to suit your lifestyle. The non-clinical responsibilities include roster management, clinical governance and policy development. The role includes supervision of rural generalist trainees, education and perioperative planning.
As mentioned above this role is supported by a larger metropolitan hospital service, which provides a supply of rural generalist trainees which support your interest in leadership and teaching. This role can be short-term (minimum 3 months
), full-time or part-time. This might be a sideways lifestyle move or step up for you in your career.
You will need RG, GPA or FANZCA or equivalent and a willingness to work across Anaesthetics, ED and general practice. You will need to include one anaesthetics referee in your application.
(VAC Rural Generalist (Multiple roles) ($367-448K TRP)
