The Sydney School of Health Sciences is in a period of exciting and significant investment by the Faculty of Medicine and Health. We seek academics passionate about improving health outcomes and / or health equity in local, national and global communities. The position offers a continuation of teaching, research and service within a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Level A
Conduct research or scholarly activity, independently or as part of a team, contributing to discipline knowledge.
Teach undergraduate and graduate students, contributing to outstanding teaching and learning outcomes.
Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences that meet the university's expectations and standards.
Develop and refine independent research skills under the supervision of more senior academic staff.
Build a professional profile through participation in conferences, seminars, and outreach activities.
Undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate within the classification level as required.
Level B
Lead educational innovation, curriculum design and review.
Design and deliver quality educational units and experiences that support student needs and meet curriculum requirements.
Design and deliver multidisciplinary work-integrated learning units and content.
Supervise higher-degree research students.
Apply scholarship and contemporary pedagogical practice to innovate education.
Carry out administrative tasks connected with the area of discipline.
Contribute to a positive workplace culture that values diversity and collaboration.
Establish partnerships, collaborations and translational research for impactful outcomes.
Enhance the research profile and reputation of the university.
Undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.
Level C
Act as a subject matter expert, working autonomously to deliver goals strategically.
Resolve complex matters, provide sound advice and exercise independent judgement to achieve teaching and research goals.
Take on staffing responsibilities as appropriate or determine resourcing needs.
Qualifications and Selection Criteria
A degree in occupational therapy (Level A)
PhD or postgraduate qualifications in occupational therapy or a relevant field
Strong or developing research profile evidenced by original, high-quality research
Clinical experience as an occupational therapist in occupational / work rehabilitation
Eligibility for registration with AHPRA Australia or existing registration desirable
Proven experience in supervising and mentoring students
Experience in teaching and learning, including team teaching and diverse settings
Demonstrated success in designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
Experience in supervising or mentoring others and coordinating team activities
Developed knowledge and understanding of key strategic issues in the discipline and higher education sector
Proven national reputation for expanding knowledge, pedagogical or curriculum innovation (Level C)
Established network of academic, industry and professional partners and stakeholders (Level C)
Significant experience conducting original research and engaging in scholarly activity (Level C)
