For over 30 years, ConnectAbility Australia has been dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by connecting them to meaningful communities, resources, and services. Founded by passionate community members in Newcastle in 1992, we’ve grown into a leading not-for-profit service provider throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Hunter Region, and the Central Coast.
In 2023, we proudly merged with Early Links, professionals in allied health and early intervention teaching who support over 1,400 children and youth.
Together, we support almost 1,800 individuals of all ages, empowering them to achieve their goals and dreams.
The Opportunity
Based in our Kurri Kurri or Muswellbrook office, the Registered Psychologist’s primary purpose is to provide comprehensive psychological assessment and intervention to people across various age groups who have significant needs relating to physical, developmental and psychosocial disabilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Working closely with families, carers, teachers, doctors and other health professionals and internal stakeholders to support children with developmental delays, at risk of developing a developmental delay or people of any age who have a disability.
* Providing evidence based psychological interventions and comprehensive assessments, in line with professional and ethical guidelines.
* Using a holistic, practical, and family centred approach with an emphasis on inclusion.
* Providing consultancy support to members of the client's team.
* Maintaining registration requirements and professional knowledge.
* Contributing to organisation goals.
About You
* Tertiary Degree qualification in Psychology.
* Knowledge of, and ability to implement evidence based psychological interventions.
* Ability to carry out assessments of and intervention with children across a range of settings (e.g. home, early childhood setting, school, community, clinic).
* Knowledge of, and experience in, family centred and strength-based approaches to early intervention.
* Knowledge of a trans-disciplinary team and Key Worker responsibilities within this model.
* Excellent written and verbal communication, consultation, and negotiation skills.

* Current registration with AHPRA
* Current drivers licence
* Current Working with Children Check (paid employment)
* NDIS Worker Screening Check
* NDIS Worker Orientation module completion certificate
* First Aid & CPR certification
* Right to work in Australia.
