Job: | Full-Time | Fixed-Term (June 2026) | Dubbo, NSW | $80,128 - $89,934 (Based on Experience)

This is an Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander identified position which is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised under section 14(d) of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977.

The Aboriginal Legal Service (ALS) was established in a critical act of self-determination over 50 years ago as part of the Aboriginal rights protest movement. We provide high-quality, culturally safe legal and support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people throughout NSW and the ACT, and fight for social justice and equity for our communities.

Your Impact:

As a valued member of the Aboriginal Child and Family Advocacy and Support (ACFAS) Program, you'll play a key role in leading and supporting the team, ensuring families and communities receive culturally safe, high-quality legal support. This role keeps the office and teams running smoothly, empowering solicitors to advocate fearlessly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. Each day, you will:

* Lead and support administration staff, paralegals, and volunteers across ACFAS, including training and development.
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date records, files, e-folders, spreadsheets, and manage office systems and calendars.
* Provide high-level secretarial and word-processing support to solicitors, including legal documents and correspondence.
* Liaise with clients, courts, government agencies, and internal teams to ensure smooth office operations.
* Oversee day-to-day office management, including phone systems, client referrals, and collaborative teamwork.
* Uphold cultural respect, EEO and WHS standards while supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.

Your Story & Strengths:

With respect and pride, you'll walk alongside community, with a deep understanding of cultural, social, and historical needs. You're committed to standing up for justice, supporting mob with care, and helping reduce cultural load and bring these values and strengths:

* Be a proud Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, recognised by your community.
* Demonstrated leadership experience or ability, including managing teams, projects, or equivalent responsibilities.
* Knowledge of the cultural and social needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, with respect for cultural practices.
* Commitment to social justice and culturally appropriate behaviour in client and community interactions.
* Strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook) and typing proficiency (35+ wpm).
* Excellent communication, phone manner, organisational, time management, and multitasking skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and collaboratively, and solve problems effectively.

Desirable: Experience in an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander community-based organisation and/or 3+ years in a legal practice.
