Overview

With your skills and experience, you can contribute to the millions of ways we're enriching health, and develop your career as part of the largest health organisation in Australia. A temporary full‐time opportunity is available for an experienced Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the Infection Prevention Unit. In this role, you will provide expert clinical leadership aligned with the NSW Health CNC domains, supporting the ongoing development of safe, effective and contemporary clinical practice. You will offer specialist advice to patients, carers and health professionals, lead the development and evaluation of care plans for complex cases, and apply research to guide infection prevention strategies. The position also contributes to specialty education, service planning and the delivery of a high‐quality consultant service across the organisation. You will uphold all relevant professional standards, legislation and codes of practice, addressing unsafe or unprofessional behaviour when required. As a senior clinician, you will model the NSW Health Code of Conduct and the behaviours expected under Transforming Your Experience and Leadership Strategies. This role provides a valuable opportunity to influence infection prevention practice and strengthen patient safety across the facility.

Right Fit

You'll be a great fit for this role if you bring strong clinical expertise, sound judgment and a commitment to evidence‐based, culturally appropriate care. You communicate clearly with patients, carers and colleagues, and you work collaboratively to ensure safe, high‐quality outcomes. You take responsibility for your practice, reflect on your performance and actively pursue ongoing development. You enjoy supporting others through teaching and coaching, and you consistently uphold professional standards while addressing unsafe or unprofessional behaviour when required. If you're looking for a role where your leadership, professionalism and clinical capability can make a meaningful impact, this opportunity aligns perfectly with your strengths.

Selection Criteria

1. Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience. Approved post graduate nursing qualifications in a field relevant to the specialty field or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate by the organisation.
2. Describe how you maintain up‐to‐date knowledge of clinical practice advances and research in your specialty, and explain how you apply this expert knowledge—along with critical thinking—to deliver safe, compassionate and culturally responsive care.
3. Provide an example that demonstrates your ability to communicate effectively with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team, interact professionally with colleagues, manage conflict when required, and contribute to risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement activities.
